So my overall thoughts on this year's Emmy's?  I loved it.  I thought they did a good job in keeping things moving at a decent pace.  But I was especially pleased by the winners.  I haven't been this elated with the winners since the 2006 Emmy broadcast when 24 won best drama series and Kiefer Sutherland won best actor in a drama series and Jon Cassar won best directing for a drama series.  I actually did horribly in my predictions.  I only got one or two right.  But, as you can imagine, I have never been this happy to be so wrong.  Homeland deserved everything it won.  I was ecstatic when Damian Lewis won best actor.  Especially since I thought for sure that Bryan Cranston had it in the bag.  Of course, Claire Danes' win was no surprise.  But I was thrilled about it anyway.  Homeland winning the Emmy for best writing was great as well.  Although, curiously, it did not win for directing.  Instead, that went to Boardwalk Empire.  But, eh, that's okay.  The biggest surprise of all, however, was that it took the top prize itself, best drama series.  I thought for sure that they were gonna go with either Mad Men or Downton Abbey.  To say the least, I was happy.  Also was happy for Aaron Paul.  I personally would have gone with Giancarlo Esposito, but Paul is great too so I certainly can't and won't complain.

I'm not a fan of Jimmy Kimmel.  The guy just comes off smarmy and I don't like his attitude towards Jay Leno.  His comment about Jay Leno really made me dislike him, I'm not gonna lie.  But I can't deny that he did a good job hosting the Emmy's.  There were some funny skits.  I was especially laughing at The Breaking Bad Show.  That was hilarious.  And hey, it didn't hurt to see many of the Emmy nominated women punch him!  ;)

So those are my thoughts on this year's Emmy broadcast.  It was a great show.  Very well put together.  Moved well.  Was frequently funny but best of all were the winners.  The only winner that made me roll my eyes was when Jon Cryer won best actor in a comedy series.  Seriously?  Two and a Half Men hasn't been relevant in a long time.  It was never any good.  But that aside, I have no complaints and am ecstatic at most of the winners.  Chief of which was the love they poured on Homeland.  It was a great year for television.  Now, as TV shows begin to premiere, let's hope for another great year of television.
